"If you can dream it, you can do it." by Walt Disney

My online name Hanenyanko is from Catwings series.
I like cats, of course and I don't have wings.

Yesterday I went to Osaka.
For one box used book market.

I sold some books, but not picture books.
Most popular book is "Where's SPOT ?"
And I read it for some famiries.

And I read "A new dog."
It's one of ORT series.

Then I try to read "?Donde esta SPOT ?"
I like spanish.
So I heard it in you-tube.
In you-tube, I try to find my mother of spanish.
Many people read it.
So I'm very happy.
I can read spanish.
I believe it.

When I read English picture books, I like dog's book may be.

Now,I'll start new project.

I want to make TADOKU picture book cafe.
So I bring my picture books for cafe and share with many people.
It's a little first step for my own TADOKU cafe.

Now I read "The meaning of internationalization" written by Edwin O.Reischauer, again.
It had written in 1988!
But chapter3;On Studying Foreign Language is still important, I think so.

"It is doughtful
that any other country uses so much formal school time
for the learning of English with such meager results as in the case in Japan."

"Most of a student's original enthusiasm
for learning something new and useful is smothered
from the start."

"WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW"

The book had written so long ago, but Japan's English education's change is so little.
My writing is "meager results" of learning of English.
I was not sucsess in study English in high school, and my son too!

Such a pity!
So I'll try to continew TADOKU STYLE.

"This is basically a matter of your own will power."
"There is much that you can do on your own."
"There are various good approaches to the learning of English,
and you should adopt the one or the combination of approaches
which best fits your situation."
This book said.

I had choiced TADOKU and shadowing.
I think most important thing at TADOKU is not will power but FUN.

Shadowing is very interresting approaches for me.
It's best fits my situation.
I ENJOY it when I'm driving or cooking!

So I can still continew them.

I want to tell you about my experience.

Hello!

I want to tell you about my experience.
Well, I joined the Language Exchange event today.
Actually, it was third time on the event.
I met several people there.
And I heard a very interesting thing today.
There was a man who came from Ireland.
He said there is a folklore in Ireland.
It's strangely similar to a Japanese tell " Urashima-Taro"

The story is like this.

There is a man.
He met a very beautiful lady on a horse
She want him to go with her.
So the man ride on the horse and they went under the sea to her land.

In the land they don't get old.
It's the land of youth.
There, the man spend quite long time. About three hundred years?
He was very happy there with the beautiful woman.
But he got homesick.
So he said to the lady he want to go home.
At first she didn't like it.
Though reluctantly she decided let him go.

When the man left the land on a horse, the lady warned him one thing.
"Don't touch the ground wile on your way to home."
On his way the man met a old man.
He want to help him. When he stretched his arms to the old man, he fall on to the ground.
He lost his forever youth. He became a old man and died.

It's the story I heard.
He (the man who came from Ireland) said the tell was 500 years old.
At that time Japan was far from Ireland.
But both country had similar story.
Isn't it interesting?
I was so curious.
I checked about the folklore on the web and found those.
There are little bit difference from my story. But it's not a problem.
Because it is the folklore.

The title is The Land of youth.
http://irelandofthewelcomes.com/tir-na-nog/

http://www.luminarium.org/mythology/ireland/oisinyouth.htm

It's the story of mine.
Thank you for reading!
See you!

Thank you, purin-san.

I enjoy the story and beautiful pictures.
It's interesting same story exist in the world.

Now I got a old writing textbook.
"More than Metaphors"
Strategies for teaching process writing
Written by Stephen K.Smuin

Next month he will come to Japan.
So I'll meet him.
And tell my opinion about this book.

"Writing is hard work.

We learn to write primarily by writing,
not by reading,
studying literature,
or memorizing parts of speech.

Writing is a process,as is thinking.

Merely assigning written work is not teaching students how to write."

He said in preface.

There are many activities in this book.
I'm interested in section4.
"Creatively Ambiguous Writing Assignments"

For example Activity No.81

"Read some of the stories about the origin of the universe and life.
Have students develop their own myths to explain the origin of life.
Focus on clear explanation of the unexplainable while still hooking the reader."

I'll try this book. :pencil:

Hi, Kinoko-san.
Thank you for reading my text and the links.
I agree with you.
They have beautiful pictures.
I love them.

However, I admire your passion for writing.
Very impressed.
Yes, Writing is difficult thing in a way.
Especially when we want to communicate with someone in writing.
We worry whether they're correct.
Is this right word? Or the spell is OK?
Etc etc.
This is the same in Japanese for me.
Whenever I post my message on website I check it several times.
Is this okay?
Is this mistaken another meaning?
Yeah it's heard work.
But sometimes it's easier than speaking for me.
Because I'm very shy.
I need some courage to communicate with someone.
So speaking is heard work too.
Ah, communication is so complicated!
Don't you think so?

Thank you for sharing your interesting encounter of Tír Na nÓg .

Here is a trailer of 1992 Irish "Into the West".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHcMIXxkn3M

Story was based on the myth of "Tír Na nÓg". Maybe I should say the story was inspired by the myth.
Set in modern Ireland, two young brothers, travellers' family, lost mother, drunken father...one day they found a beautiful white horse, named it Tír Na nÓg and fled to the West where their long lost mother should be, to Tír Na nÓg.

This is one of my favorite movie. We used to be able to watch full movie on you-Tube but not anymore, so sorry.
